Hair and Scalp!

An amazing product testimony:

I am very much looking forward to my dermatologist appointment tomorrow. Last October, I began to notice “heat patches” on my scalp, temples, and the base of my neck. I have never in my entire life had any kind of skin issues. I assumed that it was eczema…and just kind of ignored it. Eventually, it got really bad—bad enough for me to see my doctor.

He recognized it as scalp psoriasis (something about which I was uneducated.) This likely developed because of massive hormonal changes in my body since my hysterectomy ten years ago (my BRCA cancer gene not only causes breast cancer…but also ovarian cancer. So I needed the hysterectomy and could NOT do ANY hormone/estrogen therapy because my cancer is fed by estrogen.)

Inflammation is the culprit with psoriasis, and, on the scalp, the immune system will work in overdrive…causing hot patches and plaque (from the skin cells regenerating WAY too fast). There is no known cure…but there are things you can do to keep the breakouts ‘at bay’.

From October-February, I suffered….I researched…I was SO FRUSTRATED. You see, I have had the THICKEST hair on the planet. Like, SO thick that it was a burden at times. In January, I started losing a lot of hair in my brush every day—to the point where I could physically feel the difference in the thickness of my hair. Talk about Freaking out! I was bald once before, during chemo, and the thought of being bald again makes me want to sob.
It’s silly, I know…. It’s just hair.

I started researching Essential Oils and how they might be able to help. I found my “saving grace” right inside the Online Wellness Store where I already shop!

Argan Oil to strengthen my hair and keep it hydrated. What makes the oil so beneficial, is that it’s rich with vitamins A, C and E, as well as being loaded with antioxidants, linoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids. When applied externally, it can help boost cell production which results in healthier skin and hair

Then, TeaTree Oil (Melaleuca Oil) For hair growth: tea tree oil helps to unclog hair follicles and nourish your roots. In terms of psoriasis on the scalp—it exfoliates the dry and flaky skin cells on the skin surface. Tea tree oil contains anti-microbial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which provide relief from redness, itching, and burning. It reduces itching by softening the plaques. It helps to control the excess production of skin cells. Its anti-inflammatory properties reduce the swelling and redness. It penetrates deep into the skin layers and reduces the appearance of psoriasis scars.

Lavender Oil helps to promote blood circulation throughout the body (including the scalp), which promotes strong and healthy hair growth.

Rosemary Essential Oil benefits hair growth. When applied over the scalp, Rosemary essential oil helps stimulate hair growth. Many people also claim that it can prevent baldness, slows graying, and can be used to treat dandruff and dry scalp.

I had suffered. It was painful. I used steroids that BURNED my head. I finally found my ONLY relief from the pain by using these oils. My hair has gotten ten times stronger. I am barely losing any hair in the brush anymore. My scalp is MUCH healthier, and I can literally FEEL the difference if I forget to use the oils. I am so grateful for my online Wellness Store that I have in my back pocket.

Tomorrow, I finally have an appointment with a dermatologist (it was SUCH a long waiting list). I am looking forward to getting some help, and to make a plan of treatment. One thing I know FOR SURE; it IS GOING TO incorporate the use of Essential Oils. I’m a firm believer that the answer to every single health concern is found in NATURE.
