A quick comparison
Of laundry detergents.
First, let me mention the the only thing these two brands have in common is that they both wash the same number of loads.
96 loads — and that’s as far as it goes. The size difference is due to water. You’re paying for all the extra water in the package when you buy big name brands!
Not only that…
• The one on the left is powered with natural plant enzymes, is non-toxic and eco-friendly.
• The one on the right is filled with chemicals that can make you and your family sick.
• The one on the right costs 28 cents per load while the eco-friendly option is 19 cents per load! A difference of nine cents. Its may seem small potatoes, but just one load per week adds up. Besides, who really only does one load per week? My tiny package lasts me 11 months (I’m a one person plus chihuahua household) an average of two loads per week. An estimated savings of $187 on just detergent in 20 years. I think these products, detergent, fabric softener and brightener have helped my asthma over the years. With no formaldehyde or other harmful chemicals when compared to the brand-name laundry products I have been breathing easier for the past 20 years using Mela Power and companion products.
If you’ve thought about shopping for EcoSense solutions, but think that it somehow wouldn’t be worth it, or it would be too complicated, my advice is to just see for yourself!

Mineral sunscreens don’t contain:
• harsh synthetic chemicals
• aren’t absorbed into your skin
• they’re safer for sensitive skin.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that people with sensitive or acne-prone skin opt for mineral sunscreens.
So, if you’re looking for a sunscreen that is all-natural and/or reef-safe, mineral is the way to go. I know mine is safe, is yours?

Twenty years ago I ditched toxic cleaners and household products. I had no idea how harmful they were until my toddler nephew came close to getting into the cabinet under the sink—you know, the one where you keep all of your cleaning products.

Spring into Summer Cleaning
What a perfect time to make the switch and go green. Why? The proof is there. Studies by the EPA, CDC, NIH and especially the Lung Study. Here are some findings from that study:
- Weekly use of national brand home cleaners are as damaging to lungs as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years
- Women are affected more than men
- Cleaning at home is just as harmful as being an occupational cleaner, if not more so
- Liquid cleaners are just as dangerous as sprays
- Dangerous chemicals, including ammonia, bleach and quaternary disinfectant compounds appear to be primary culprits
- Women who regularly use cleaning products have increased rates of asthma

This is one of my favorite cleaning products.

My Two Cents Worth
If there’s one thing I would convert to better, cleaner and greener items it would be that supermarket laundry, cleaning aisle.
