Once upon a time I was the ”snack lady”. I had the desk drawer at work filled with sweets and treats. From dark chocolate to the “rot your teeth in a second” kind—like Gummie Bears, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Sweet Tarts, Good & Plenty, Mike & Ike’s, Caramels and Licorice. But Chocolate was my favorite and Dark Chocolate was the best!.

Well, I gave it all up… cold turkey with R3. Guess what? I lost so much of my mid section and gained so much energy. I learned how to break that addiction to all things sweet with R3. Think about joining me on this journey. Your body will thank you!

For many of us, gardening means we get to experience the joy of the dirt between our fingers, watching colorful flowers bloom and enjoying the taste of amazing homegrown vegetables!

TEA TREE OIL/MELALEUCA OIL

There are over 90 Essential Oils, each one with a unique menu of benefits. Over the next few days, I’ll review some of my favorites. But one I can’t live without is Tea Tree Oil, or what is known as Melaleuca Oil. It grows in Australia on the Melaleuca alternafolia bush. It has a very pungent scent, so you can either love it or hate that aspect…. but you’ll love the benefits.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

The benefits will surprise you. According to a 2013 study titled Silence is Golden, two hours of solitude and silence can really refresh your mind. In fact, it also promotes healthy cell growth in the hippocampus, the area of the brain that’s responsible for memory formation. Just sitting in silence for 10-15 minutes can help to improve your memory. In fact, it can help those who have neurological injuries, and may also aid those who have dementia and amnesia. A 2014 study on patients with amnesia showed that a ten-minute rest in a quiet darkened room boosted recall from 14 to 49%.

You will improve your sleep patterns as when you practice silence, your sleep quality improves, and insomnia also reduces. All in all, it helps you to stay fit physically, emotionally, and cognitively. When you practice silence, your sleep quality improves, and insomnia also reduces.

Stress impacts our lives in negative ways, but when you take out time and practice silence, your cortisol and adrenaline levels go down, and you feel relieved and relaxed. In fact, silence is said to be more relaxing than listening to meditative music.

THE NEW YORK STRIP VS. THE RIBEYE:

I have been blown away with the excitement around Riverbend Ranch Black Label Beef! With already tens of thousands of subscribers, I am often asked whether I recommend the Ribeye bundle or the New York Strip bundle. My answer: Both are great steaks! But I much prefer the New York Strip because it has just as much marbling and flavor but has less fat. The Ribeye has a vein of fat that extends up through the middle of the Ribeye. That’s why many prefer the New York Strip. The New York Strip is also a more appropriate portion size for most people. It also has less calories!

I am not alone. Many steak lovers choose the New York Strip. Those who want the flavor without the extra fat are happier with the New York Strip! Fortunately, my preferences also align with Belinda’s. She loves the flavor of a well-marbled steak, but she doesn’t like seeing extra fat on her beef. Therefore, she greatly prefers the New York Strip as well. She believes that many women have the same preference. I think she is right about that, like she is on so many things!
