Did you know of the day

According to Albert Einstein, if honey bees were to disappear from earth, humans would be dead within four years.

May I treat you…

Are you confused by all the info out there that is encouraging you to use this or that product to improve your lifestyle?
I was in that same boat nearly 20 years as I was seeking healthy avenues to take care of my personal health and the health
of my family’s home environment.

I had a good friend share with me about an American-born company; a company that was debt free; and a company that offered products made with the best of science and nature designed to help with my personal health and the health of my home environment. At first I was skeptical.

But you know what? I was the best shopping decision I ever made!

Are you ready to get off the treadmill of information overload and learn about a company that offers real products for real people? Products that they really need?

May I treat you to a cup of coffee or iced tea and share about this company?

Did you know of the day

There are three things the human brain cannot resist noticing – food, attractive people and danger.

Did you know of the day

If a part of your body “falls asleep”, you can almost always “wake it up” by shaking your head.

Why am I up this early on a SATURDAY?

For those of you who follow me, you know that rarely shop Target or Walmart for cleaning and household supplies. I shop with online Shopping Club that manufactures household products that are affordable and safer for my home, and…that just so happen to be manufactured in the USA.

As for my family…if my Wellness Shopping Club sells it, well, I buy it from them. With over 500 products available and manufactured in the States, I rarely need buy anything from the big box stores other than fresh produce and groceries.

With my allergies, asthma and eczema, I wanted natural, safe, non-toxic, effective and affordable products and it was becoming difficult to find in the “overly fragrant” cleaning aisle of stores that would set of a round of asthma I hated that. Plus when using the products I would break out in painfully itch red rashes.  I really hated cleaning because of that.

Then, 19 years ago, I discovered through a friend, my online Shopping Club! I didn’t overthink making a convenient, simple switching stores decision when my friend shared this Shopping Club with me. I welcomed the idea of a one stop shop for safer products.  Of course, I had some concerns about making regular purchases online, afterall, it was 2004.

Things sure have changed! I keep a running list of items to get in my next order and love the products!

Some of the benefits of this shopping club are:

• Never having to read labels anymore, unless I want to read them.

• Convenient doorstep delivery within 3-4 days.

• Never having to forfeit quality because of cost.

• Never having to worry about supply-chains issues.

• Never having to worry about the price going up so much that it hurts.

I loved this company and the products so much that I had decided to partner up with them in business and share it with others—and that has been a source of income for me for the past 19 years.

One thing that makes me happy is that becoming a customer is completely risk free. I respect this Shopping Club’s honesty, transparency, integrity, loyalty, community, values and morals. I NEVER have to worry about any of my referrals getting hurt in any way by the company or products. The company isn’t going anywhere

I am so honored and blessed to get to share this store and enhance people lives with wellness. I will never stop sharing a store that continues to put their customers first.

This is so much more than amazing products and great income—it’s also about the friendships I have made over the last 19 years with like minded, positive people. That’s PRICELESS

Screen time and the brain

The first long-term study on how screen time affects children’s brains suggests more than two hours a day could do damage

A new and ongoing study from the National Institutes of Health is testing how screen time affects children’s brains, CBS News reported. When complete, the study will have followed more than 11,000 children for a decade, monitoring how digital screens like smartphones, video games, and tablets are changing the young brain. The first brain scans from the study have been analyzed, and researchers have concluded that children who spend more than seven hours a day on screens experience “premature thinning of the cortex,” Gaya Dowling, one of the study’s authors, said in an interview with “60 Minutes.” The study also found that children who have more than two hours of screen time a day got lower scores on tests focused on thinking and language skills.

A first-of-its-kind study from the National Institutes of Health is analyzing how screen time affects children’s brains, CBS News reported. Over the next decade, the study will follow children, who are currently 9 to 10 years old, as they grow up around screens. “We’ll be able to see not only how much time are they spending, how they perceive it impacting them, but also what are some of the outcomes,” Gaya Dowling, one of the study’s authors, said in an interview with “60 Minutes.” “And that will get at the question of whether there’s addiction or not.”

The first findings from the study show as little as two hours of screen time can be detrimental In fact, the study found that children who have more than two hours of screen time a day got lower scores on tests focused on thinking and language skills.

According to Dr. Dimitri Christakis, the lead author of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ most recent screen-time guidelines, these negative effects occur because children don’t know how to translate two-dimensional skills learned on a screen to the real, three-dimensional world. “If you give a child an app where they play with virtual Legos, virtual blocks, and stack them, and then put real blocks in front of them, they start all over,” he said on “60 Minutes.”

The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests toddlers stay away from screens as much as possible The newest screen-time guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics stress the importance of face-to-face communication and suggest parents avoid screen time for toddlers between the ages of 18 and 24 months, with the exception of video calling. The guidelines also suggest parents accompany young children whenever they are using screens. “Co-viewing is best when possible and for young children they learn best when they are re-taught in the real world what they just learned through a screen,” the guidelines noted.

The NIH study could help solidify guidelines about screen time for young people As the NIH study continues, researchers hope to retrieve information that can better inform screen-related health guidelines. As Dowling noted, a full picture of the screen-time effects won’t be possible until years down the line, when the study is complete. The NIH, has, however, finished enrolling the 11,000 children participating in the research project.

This January 24 Brighten Someone’s Day

Today is NATIONAL COMPLIMENT DAY. What a wonderful way to brighten someone’s day or to give credit for a job well done! Today’s the day to give an extra compliment to anyone and everyone you meet.. A compliment has a powerful effect. It can instill confidence in a child, or validate someone’s hard work. A compliment not only improves the receiver’s mood, but it also says something about the giver. It tells them you noticed.

Whether we recognize someone’s achievement or their classic style, a compliment can go a long way. To give a great compliment, first be sincere. People have a way of knowing when we are fake. If you don’t mean it, it’s worse than getting a thoughtless birthday gift.

Complimenting character versus a new haircut are different rewards. The first says you respect the person and the other tells them you paid attention. Sometimes the receiver needs to hear one or the other, or both. Human beings like to be unique, original. Strive to compliment what makes a person stand out above the rest. Take the time to reflect on what you admire about the person and go for it.

It’s National Smile Power Day

From the good morning greeting and the first “How may I help you?”, National Smile Power Day urges everyone to share the power of a smile.

No matter where you are employed, job seeking, retired or looking for new horizons starting the day with a smile is certainly more empowering than a pout or grump.  Besides, starting with a smile, is so much easier; because, when you smile at someone, you are telling them that they are valued. Smiles are morale boosters and confidence builders.

Research has proven that smiling really does increase attractiveness and likability between humans.  Smiling creates a greater trust and increased interpersonal cooperation. Smiling at someone can help them to relax and relieve their stress while at the same time, it will make you feel right.  Smiling (even if you do not feel like it) will lift your mood and can make you a happier person. So challenge yourself to smile more often today. Use a smile to disarm a tense situation, or simply smile during your daily tasks.

Helping Others Helps You

The fastest (and easiest) way to achieve your own goals is by helping others reach theirs. You’ve heard it said since you were a child, “it is better to give than to receive”. The article below from Forbes Magazine points that out in some detail.

Whether it is sharing the knowledge of how the products your company offers can help them or listening (instead of talking) in order to discover what is important to them or sharing the resources of a website that you subscribe to that can assist them in their business, these things all constitute helping them achieve their own goals.

You can also help others by making them aware of opportunities that they may not have considered. Giving them valuable feedback about your observations of their own activities, in a non-critical way can improve their effectiveness. Show them how advocating for their own company’s brand, in a whole-hearted way, can improve their own posture and that of their company, as well.

Don’t be reluctant to share your own networking connections. They may be able to nurture some new connections. And offer and give freely of your time, whenever you can. Remember, also, to recognize their achievements in a genuine way. Finally, keep your attention out for a particular “gift” (not expensive) that would be meaningful to them in a personal way.

Helping others can be inconvenient at times. It takes time and requires subordinating your own goals in the short-run. In the long run, it will pay significant dividends as you strive for your own goals. Never, never be reluctant to help, you will gain and you will feel better about yourself and that AWAYS makes YOU better.
