Alter your environment to improve your body and mind

Genes contain information that determine everything from appearance to intelligence.
A person inherits genes from their parents, and how parents live affects their children’s genes.

However, it’s a mistaken assumption that everything you inherited in your genes is permanent. Your lifestyle and circumstances can awaken individual genes and/or suppress others. Here are four ways you can alter your environment and lifestyle to improve your body and mind.

1. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Food and nutrition are important. If you regularly consume healthy and nutritious food, your genes will respond accordingly. Healthy nutrition awakens essential genes that have a positive impact on your mind and body. It’s critical to have a consistently healthy diet for the good genes to remain active.

2. STRESS CAN ACTIVATE CHANGE. Everyone deals with stress, which can have an impact on our health and genes. Becoming stressed-out on a consistent basis can cause the good genes to become suppressed impacting your productivity and health. Destressing exercises can activate these genes to help you cope.

3. AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE WILL AWAKEN THE BEST GENES. An active lifestyle influences change. You don’t need to become an exercise junkie for good results. you only need to take part in a physical activity such as dancing or running on a regular basis. Your body will activate genes needed to support those activities over time. The impact has a net positive on your health, mind and productivity.

4. CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT. Sometimes changing your environment isn’t all that easy, but it can be controlled it in small ways. Regular exposure to morning sunlight, a clean home environment and living near a wooded area can influence your active genes, mind, body and even your mood.

In addition to making these four changes, regular visits with your general healthcare provider can make sure you live a long, healthy life.

Today is a good day to start!

Happy Groundhog Day

Why become the CEO of your own health?

For starters, who wants to be told how to live and survive? For me, I would rather have control over my health and THRIVE. I remember the days of suffering when I was so frustrated and had a laundry list of symptoms.

I felt like I was just a number or file at the doctor’s office. I was receiving no answers just methods to temporarily “mask symptoms” that were causing more symptoms. I was at such a loss and just wanted to live a normal life.

The moment I decided I was done and set out to discover what I needed to do for my own unique body, I felt free. It took a long time, a lot of self care, a strong support system, lots of education and discovery. I had to discover a lot about myself and through that process I discovered ME. How many people wait until they are sick to go to the doctor?

I’m not judging; I was one of them. When I discovered holistic health, functional medicine and prevention, it changed my life.

When I discovered the unique foods that nourished my body, I felt empowered and healthy.

When I discovered the importance of self care, I felt loved.

I chose food and a lifestyle change as my medicine and healthcare. This message is not meant to criticize or stir up politics, but empower you to take a stance in your health.

In discovering the things that are designed for your own beautiful bio-individuality. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about your health. Don’t be afraid to stand up and take responsibility for your journey.

I hear (and have felt myself) frustrations, I see people suffering and the lives I want to help change. It took me years to discover what healthy looks like–in all aspects of the wellness wheel. It’s more than just what we eat and exercise.

I became a holistic health & wellness coach to help others live a balanced healthy life with less time, frustration and lack of understanding. To help others on their healing journey- physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

I encourage you to listen to your body, grow your knowledge and understanding, bump up your self care tank, work on a mindset shift and discover your own beautiful live life!

Non-toxic stain removal story

This was posted by a friend:

HO-LEE SMOKES. THAT’S DRIED COFFEE, PEOPLE!
Sneaker heads, this ones for you.
First, story time: My beloved husband took the babies out of the house this morning, and grabbed some coffee for me on the way back.
I’m not sure of all the details, but there was a spill and our daughter’s shoes came home SATURATED in coffee.
My husband said he was going to toss them and go buy a new pair, but wanted to see what magic I could do first.

Well, ABRACADABRA PRESTO KAZAAM….
All I did was use my non-toxic stain remover (honestly, it has over 101 uses so it doesn’t do it justice to call it a stain remover. Most recently, I safely removed nail polish off my daughters legs, don’t ask…). It comes highly concentrated, so it costs like less than $1 a bottle.
UM, HELLO NEW LOOKING CHUCKS, thanks for saving me $35!
Thank You!

Something to ponder:

In the Spring of 2000, Netflix’s CEO tried to form an alliance with Blockbuster Video (remember them?) Netflix offered 49% of their company to Blockbuster and the two companies would become one. Blockbuster would still have the brick and mortar buildings to rent out DVD’s and Netflix would be used to send out DVD’s though the mail.

Blockbuster basically laughed Netflix out of the meeting and passed on the offer because they didn’t understand the business model.

Are you being left behind on an opportunity because you don’t understand it?

Things are changing faster than ever before. Old ways of doing business are dying daily. Don’t be left behind!

Just because you haven’t shopped or don’t shop online for your household items YET doesn’t mean it won’t be EXACTLY what your busy life is looking for!

I love shopping online for all of my household items, let me help you get started.

Knee and Hip Replacements

Getting a knee or hip replacement is a big decision. It was for me.

I was always an active person and a cyclist. One day while out riding a police officer directed an SUV to make a left turn not realizing that the cyclist he had just driven past was still coming up on his right. The SUV slammed right into the cyclist who had the right of way.

My watch cracked the windshield, the antenna went into my left shoulder, my knees left huge dents in the vehicle. I was able to stand up all bloody from cuts on my legs a little winded from the impact.

It didn’t seem like much, just cuts and scrapes and huge bruises. At the ER they took X-rays and told me although nothing was broken or sprained, it didn’t mean I would have joint problems down the road. The next day I felt every bit of the impact.

A few years down the road, I started to have twinges in my hips and occasionally would have a slight limp. I followed my doctors suggesions  and began taking Replenex joint supplements to help maintain healthy cartilage and provide additional cushioning and soothing relief to my sore hip joints.

Replenex contains a number of ingredients vital to rebuilding and rejuvenating joints. Commonly found in other joint care products, Glucosamine works to aid in the rebuilding of cartilage. Bromelain works to decrease injury during recovery times. Ginger extract is claimed to have proven success in treating hip and knee joint pain. Lastly, the antioxidant properties of green tea are included to reduce inflammation in the affected area.

It helped and my hips functioned well for another 10 years. but the pain got worse. We tried conservative treatments like physical therapy, injections and exercise.

Unfortunately, the hip pain was significantly impacting my life, and my orthopedic specialist was suggesting that i might be ready for joint replacement surgery.

My orthopedic surgeon gave me this simple quiz to help me determine when it was time to consider joint replacement surgery:

  • Does the pain limit your normal activity?
  • Is it difficult to get up after sitting?
  • Do you have pain even when you’re at rest?
  • Does the pain affect your sleep?
  • Do you have chronic swelling/inflammation or stiffness?
Have you received little to no relief from conservative treatments, such as RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation), physical therapy, braces, footwear modification, over-the-counter medications like aspirin and ibuprofen, and cortisone/lubrication injections?

If like me, you can answer yes to most of the quiz questions, you may (like me) be a candidate for joint replacement surgery and should speak with an orthopedic specialist.

Eight years ago I had left hip replacement surgery. Three years later, I had my right hip replaced. Doctors were surprised that I was able to function as long as I did with my hips. I believe it was Replenex that helped my hips to last as long as they did after my accident.

I still take this supplement daily to keep the rest of my joints functioning at their peak ability and heartily recommend friends experiencing aches and pains to give it a try.

Wow!
In 1935, Einstein’s ‘action is distance’ experiment showed that a person’s thoughts and feelings can physically affect another person, even if they are not touching or physically near each other. His theory referred to something amazing called “quantum entanglement,” which states that the measurement of one particle will instantly influence another particle, regardless of how far apart they are.
In other words, two people don’t even have to be in the same room to affect one another!
Just being around someone with negative body chemistry and thoughts and feelings can spike your stress. Conversely, positive people and energy can have a positive effect.

I love when something has more than one

I love when something has more than one use! Everyone knows I love my Natural Insect Repellent because it works amazingly at keeping mosquitoes and ticks away. But, today while at an outdoor event those pesky seasonal allergies kicked in. I couldn’t run home. I didn’t want to leave the event to search out a pharmacy, so I did a quick Google search and saw that Lemongrass and Peppermint Essential Oils can alleviate symptoms. I sprayed a little Natural Insect Repellent on my finger rubbed it under my nose. Within a few minutes, the sniffing and sneezing stopped! I was so excited http://ow.ly/i/IgW19
