Oven Melamagic

I love Melamagic’s degreasing, heavy duty deep cleaning effects. But, dislike the need to make a sink or bucketful to use it. This is an amazing product that actually works like —well, magic!

Today was lets clean the oven day and I thought I’d try something different. I put the product (mixed as directed) into a sprayer bottle I found under the kitchen sink.

I sprayed my broiler pan, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Then I did a light scrub just to kind of scratch up the residue and sprayed a little more. I did not let it dry. Twenty to thirty minutes later I rubbed it with a soft scouring pad and rinsed it under hot water. Anything that didn’t come off easily with a light scrub got to sit a while longer. Then I did a final scrub, a final rinse and wiped all surfaces until rag came back clean. After cleaning the broiler pan I couldn’t stop—I cleaned the stove and most used frying pan!

The best part is there were no harmful fumes or chemicals released into the air. Safer for your lungs and for your family. There is no better reasons than family to join the Wellness Club, and convert your entire home and lifestyle over to wellness!!!

Danger Lurking in Your Cabinets

Many pop;ar cleaning products can harm you and your families. Sure, they clean and leave your house smelling great and fresh, but they can also mess with the neurons in your brain and nervous system. Many of their ingredients are hormone disruptors, Yup, that’s right, you heard right. These ingredients love to be absorbed your body’s stored fat along with you largest organ, your skin!

I’m ever so grateful for a dear friendr who recommended I try out a shop club that she used. She believed it would help me live a true wellness lifestyle. What she told me made so much sense, that I decided to shop for the things I’ve been shopping for at the local big box stores.

I pinch myself from time to time to think about how I made this decision to switch stores nearly 20 years ago. Honestly, this shop club has kept me healthier than ever and saved me tons of money over the years.

So, as I share this life changing shop club with others, it surprises me how stuck they are on traditional poisonous products that do more harm than good. I have found that educating the end consumer is what I’m suppose to do. I pray for hearts to be open to learn that what you breathe in matters.

What a difference shopping healthier products makes! I love shopping here, and all the information I’ve learned over the last 20 years! Dangerous things should come with warning labels, but often they don’t.
I’m so glad there’s a one-stop shop for better safer products for me and my family.

Often, we don’t see the harm these products cause until many years later. Every so often, I hear a new illness has been linked to the use of these common every day home products. Educating people on how ingredients matter isn’t an easy task. But possible for those who are  tired of being tired to try a safer brand.

Product Recall

Have you seen all the recalls of personal care products, cleaning products ?
The Last call I saw was for a Clorox company product, Pine-Sol. If you are a Pine-Sol user,
it might be time to switch products and stores.

Are you a weekend gardener?

Now that warmer weather is here, I find I spend more time out in my yard and garden. Finding natural and safe products can sometimes be an issue, but I have found some safe and affordable lawn and gardening care alternatives using my everyday household products.

For killing weeds.
I mix 1/4 cup Tough & Tender with 1 gallon vinegar and two cups salt. Apply to trouble spots. For stronger, hardier weeds I add 1/2 Lemon Bright dish soap. The soap is needed to break through the weed’s protective coating.

Ridding the lawn of gnats, “no seeums” and mushrooms.
Spray the lawn with a diluted mixture of Tough & Tender in a lawn sprayer unit. It will kill the little gnats as well as mushrooms that grow in your yard. (Tough & Tender is my go-to cleaning product, It’s one thing we are never out of there are so many uses for it!)

Killing “Yard Bugs”.
 Mix 1 cup of Lemon Brite dish soap and 1 cup of pre-mixed Breath-Away Mouthwash into a 20 gallon hose-end sprayer and soak your lawn, garden beds and trees to the point that the fluid is running off. Bugs HATE it!

Killing Ants.
Spray concentrated Pre-spot Plus on areas ants congregate (don’t use on wood). For heavier concentrations and black ants, combine 1 ounce of MelaMagic and 1 ounce of Sol-U-Mel in a 16 ounce spray bottle and fill with water.

Armyworm caterpillars.
Mix 1/2 cup of MelaMagic in two gallons of water to spray. Spray cocoon, nest, and any webs you see. This will also help cutdown on succeeding generations as well as with the ant invasion that follows the armyworms.

All purpose home made spray.
A safe and non-toxic bug spray can be made from a combination of ¼ cup of Sol-U-Mel, five drops of T36-C5, 1 teaspoon of Tough & Tender, and 14 ounces of water. Or you can just get the Natural Insect Repellent. (Which we happen to love!)

Testing smoke detectors

Every year, on December first, we do a smoke detector check.  We know it’s a good idea to check your smoke detectors regularly, and we do it before we start decorating for the holidays.

It’s easy, all I do is reach up (I have high ceilings so I need the ladder) and push the button to make sure each smoke detector beeps to check the alarm capability. Then to really test it, I light two or three matches, blow them out and hold them under the detector so the smoke drifts toward it. If that doesn’t set it off, the smoke detector isn’t working. and the matches are a lot easier to test with than burning something on the stove!

It’s a great way to make certain all is safe for the holidays!

Household Items can be Dangerous

You have probably read about the new “trend” on the Internet. Young adults (teenagers) actually ingesting Tide laundry pods on digital videos. The article below from FOX Business will give you some gruesome details. Solving this problem is about common sense in our teens.

While common sense and mentoring can solve this practice, there are other dangers that exist in our homes that we expose ourselves and our families to that are not as obvious. More importantly, we voluntarily take these risks in the name of cleanliness and convenience.

If I were to take you into a grocery or drug store where you buy many of your household cleaning products, in a blindfold, your nose would direct you to the aisle where the cleaning products were displayed. The chemicals in these products fill the air with scents…and TOXINS.

The other article from House Beautiful explains how some of the household items expose our families and homes to unknown dangers. In a world of “going green”, it is counter-intuitive to continue exposing our domestic environment to these unnecessary risks.

There is a reason why many traditional products are equipped with “child-proof” packaging and warnings that guard against manufacturer liability as much as consumer safety. Be aware of the chances you take every day. Breathing and exposing skin to these products presents the real possibility of risks to your health. Everything from skin cancer to respiratory or gastrointestinal infections are just some of the possibilities.

I learned of a manufacturer that I can actually purchase directly from for products I use every day WITHOUT all the toxins. I have been getting my products, like laundry detergent, from them for a while now. I absolutely love how well they work. I’ve learned that cleaning products do not have to have skull and bones and child-proof safety caps on them to be effective.  As adults, we can take all the safety precautions in the world and a child will still figure out how to access things they shouldn’t! We should not have to worry about making a trip to the hospital if that happens. And thanks to the manufacturer I purchase from, I don’t worry.
