Magnesium Deficiency and Cancer

Magnesium deficiency is a risk factor for multiple cancers. This essential mineral helps maintain proper immune function and regulates inflammation, both of which are important factors in cancer prevention.

Good sources of magnesium include:

  • Leafy greens
  • Fruit
  • Chocolate
  • Dairy (grassfed is easier to digest)
  • Beef

But still….. it’s hard to get the necessary requirements so supplementing is important. I prefer a powder magnesium that i can easily add to my water, lemonade, protein shakes, etc. It’s one less pill to swallow, but i can also increase dosage if I prefer. Also, I recommend looking for a magnesium supplement that also has Vitamin B6. It works beautifully with this mineral for quicker absorption.

Live Longer With A Daily Walk

Here are the facts:

  • If Americans over 40 walked as much each day as the most physically active members of the population, they could extend their life span by at least five years, a new study finds.
  • The least physically active 25% of the population stood the most to gain, according to the predictive model: For each hour of walking they do, they can extend their life by about 6 hours.

Christopher Schneble, MD, Yale Medicine sports medicine physician and assistant professor of orthopaedics and rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine (who was not involved in the study) says……

“Engaging in physical activity can result in improved preservation of bone density, improved strength, reduced body fat, and better cardiovascular health. It can also lead to improvements in both mood and cognitive function. Improving things like heart rate, blood pressure, or the amount of excess body fat can all help decrease how hard the heart must work to pump blood throughout the body, which in return is protective.”

So schedule in some time to walk and set a goal to walk every day! Your body will thank you for it!

Quick Hack for Improving Your Blood Sugars

Functional Medicine Doctor, Dr. Mark Hyman shared this quick tip for improving your blood sugars: Sitting for hours at a time doesn’t just affect your energy—it can seriously disrupt blood sugar control.

A recent study reveals that interrupting prolonged sitting with short bursts of movement can significantly improve glycemic control.

In the study, participants who performed three minutes of walking or 10 bodyweight squats every 45 minutes had better blood sugar regulation compared to those who stayed seated or even those who took a single 30-minute walk.
These frequent, targeted bursts of activity were shown to activate key muscle groups like the quadriceps and glutes, leading to better glucose management throughout the day.

Working out at the gym is great, but if you are pressed for time, remember….. get up and move!

Think Your Purchases Are “All Natural”?

Think Again.

First of all, there’s no legal definition for the term “All Natural” so when I read or hear that, my skeptical side comes out.
But over the last few years, those cute little companies that popped up with “natural” products sold out while you weren’t looking. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but here’s what happens:

When a company like Clorox purchases Burt’s Bees, usually what happens is they change the formula…and they have every right to do it. They now own the product. It costs more money to produce a healthy product and they want to improve their margins. It’s their right…but they often fail to inform the customer and the customer presumes that it’s still as natural as it once was.

In fact, there have been multiple lawsuits involving several of these big manufacturers for saying a product they acquired was green when, in reality, they changed the formulation to include cheaper and often toxic chemicals so the product was no longer green.

The skeptic in me says “Do I really think a company like Clorox really believes in my health and offer me green clean products when they also produce bleach?”

It takes paying attention to where our shopping dollars go.

Advice from an Urgent Care!

Everyone is getting sick now so it is a good idea to stay out of other folks faces.
You know RSV, Mycoplasma pneumonia, Flu A & B are going around. So many people
are showing up at urgent care, daily. after all, it’s winter and this year’s weather is making it worse.

They all need to be treated symptomatically, these are all viruses, that can last up to two or three weeks, especially walking pneumonia—which can leave you with a hacking cough for months.

There’s no antibiotic treatment for viruses so, .over the counter Mucinex DM (and the like) will loosen all the mucus and thin it out. Increasing fluids, also helps so go heavy on the water intake!

Using a humidifier if you have one will help keep your lungs clear of mucous,.

Take hot steamy showers with vapor tablets— it will feel like heaven and help loosen the mucous.

Take cough medicine for your cough (if you get rid of the mucus, you get rid of the cough)
Take Tylenol/ibuprofen for your fever, pain, headaches, etc.. Also, sinus flushing (sinus suction for the toddlers) or a netipot can be one of the best things you can do for the sinus pressure headaches.

If you have a nebulizer, use it every four to six hours (especially if you are asthmatic). If you don’t have the solution from the doctor, mix two cups of sterile water (bottled or boiled) with one teaspoon of salt. Believe it or not, it will help to break up all that mucus in your lungs, chest, and sinuses.

Stay well!

Natural disinfecting

Shop Club customer Bobbi E. shares something very useful for this time of the year…With four kids, when we go out someone is always getting sick. I thought I’d share my go-to for everyday messes and disinfecting Y
Yes- the disinfectant is food surface safe and kills 99.9% of listed bacteria and viruses.
I love that it tells you the amount of time it takes to kill each pathogen
This is the only EPA registered botanical disinfectant – so no harsh chemicals needed! Just spray it and walk away!𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙤𝙢 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙧, 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 – 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣!

Why I share

When people ask me why I share the shop club..this is why.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with severe eczema out of nowhere. For months, he has been battling with his hands, itching, scaling, and cracking. He resulted to wearing wrapped hands so no one could see what was going on. I shared with him some products from the shop club and he is seeing major results and just 12 days, not only has the itching stopped. His hands are healing and the scars are fading.

This is exactly why I do what I do.

The Olive Oil Deception

Did you know that olives are a fruit?
And just like fruit juice, olive oil tastes best and is the most nutritious when it’s fresh.

Fresh-pressed olive oil has the highest levels of antioxidants, polyphenols, and a unique anti-cancer compound called Oleocanthol.

But there’s a problem:
According to Forbes“It’s been reliably reported that 80% of the Italian olive oil on the market is fraudulent. A study last year by the National Consumer League found that six of 11 bottles of Extra Virgin olive oil from three major retailers—Whole Foods, Safeway, and Giant—failed to meet Extra Virgin requirements.”
Yes, many olive oil companies produce low quality olive oil diluted with other oils, and some companies sell “olive oil” that isn’t even made from olives!

In his book, Extra Virginity, olive oil expert, Tom Mueller, warns of contaminants and cancer-causing agents in these fake olive oils:
“Italian investigators have found hydrocarbon residues, pesticides, and other contaminants in fake oils, and pomace oil, a common adulterant, sometimes contains mineral oil as well as PAHs, proven carcinogens that can also damage DNA and the immune system.”

So how do you know if it’s authentic?

The Label: The label should indicate the harvest date and whether the oil has been blended with other oils. Look for a quality seal from the International Olive Council (IOC) for European oils or the California Olive Oil Council for American oils, which indicate that the oil has been tested and meets certain standards.

The Bottle: The bottle should be dark colored glass to protect against UV Ray exposure

The Taste: Authentic EVOO has a bright flavor with hints of fruit, grass, and almond, and a slightly bitter, peppery aftertaste. Low-quality or “fake” EVOO may taste dull, greasy, waxy, or crayon-like, or have no flavor.

So shop carefully and read those labels!

Have you ever heard of the French Paradox?

We all know that high saturated fat and high cholesterol foods are bad for our hearts, right?

The French consume more of these foods than we do, yet they enjoy significantly better heart health. This finding seemed to contradict other research that clearly linked fat-laden diets with increased risk for heart disease.

Many researchers attribute this paradox to the heart-healthy components of grapes. While the French may eat more fatty foods, they also drink more wine with their meals. The grapes used to make the wine are an extremely potent source of natural antioxidants including flavonoids.

Of all the potential vegetables, fruits, herbs, exotic berries, nuts, and roots that lead to a healthier heart, none compares to the purple grape. Purple grapes are filled with polyphenols that positively impact the interior of blood vessels unlike anything else.

That said, drinking wine every night is not a wise move for many for obvious reasons.

That’s supplement my diet with two of my very favorite ingredients daily!

Grape Seed/Skin Extract: A super-concentrated, natural extract associated with maintaining healthy blood pressure and supports healthy endothelial function. Grape skin includes many critical natural compounds that are extremely useful for a healthy cardiovascular system, called Anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are powerful polyphenolic compounds that are especially helpful in maintaining a healthy endothelial function.

Resveratrol: A polyphonic compound found in grapes and some berries. Resveratrol has been shown in lab tests to neutralize free radicals and is associated with a wide variety of beneficial physiological effects, including cardiovascular health. It is also associated with helping maintain healthy endothelial function. It’s suggested in several studies that resveratrol has a positive impact on diseases such as cancer.

Question: Do you look at the ingredients in your supplements?
