The Real Complications of Type II Diabetes

A Type II Diabetes diagnosis opens the door for other serious diseases. It’s one of the ugliest diseases, but it can be reversed! One out of every three people is already Pre-Diabetic. It can affect your life in more ways than just diet. It’s something to take seriously!

Potential Complications

  • Heart and blood vessel disease. Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and narrowing of blood vessels, a condition called atherosclerosis.
  • Nerve damage in limbs. This condition is called neuropathy. High blood sugar over time can damage or destroy nerves. That may result in tingling, numbness, burning, pain or eventual loss of feeling that usually begins at the tips of the toes or fingers and gradually spreads upward.
  • Other nerve damage. Damage to nerves of the heart can contribute to irregular heart rhythms. Nerve damage in the digestive system can cause problems with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. Nerve damage also may cause erectile dysfunction.
  • Kidney disease. Diabetes may lead to chronic kidney disease or end-stage kidney disease that can’t be reversed. That may require dialysis or a kidney transplant.
  • Eye damage. Diabetes increases the risk of serious eye diseases, such as cataracts and glaucoma, and may damage the blood vessels of the retina, potentially leading to blindness.
  • Skin conditions. Diabetes may raise the risk of some skin problems, including bacterial and fungal infections.
  • Slow healing. Left untreated, cuts and blisters can become serious infections, which may heal poorly. Severe damage might require toe, foot or leg amputation.
  • Hearing impairment. Hearing problems are more common in people with diabetes.
  • Sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is common in people living with Type II diabetes. Obesity may be the main contributing factor to both conditions.
  • Dementia. Type II diabetes seems to increase the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other disorders that cause dementia. Poor control of blood sugar is linked to a more rapid decline in memory and other thinking skills.

Diabetes and It’s Many Friends

Diabetes isn’t just about blood sugar levels

Diabetes is a condition where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin or it doesn’t use insulin properly. This causes the blood sugars to become too high, known as hyperglycemia.

Almost 10% of the population is diabetic, so there’s no wonder why pharmaceutical companies are marketing Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovey, etc in big ways.

People with diabetes have a higher risk of developing serious complications including:

  • Heart Disease
  • Kidney Disease
  • Nerve Damage
  • Dementia
  • Gum Disease
  • Mood Disorders
  • Eye Problems, including Blindness

Type II Diabetes IS REVERSIBLE, but it takes effort. Even though it’s reversible, through diet, exercise and healthy life changes. Diabetes is a highly dangerous disease and it’s worth taking seriously.

So you need collagen?

Did you know that there are 28 types of collagen but only THREE types you need to focus on:
Type I , Type II and Type III.

Type I and Type III are in skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, hair, nails bones and more. Type II is found in cartilage and in the joints to give support.

Interestingly enough, Collagen’s job is NOT to replace collagen in your body. It’s not a “Oh I’m deficient and i need to supplement” type of supplement. This supplement is meant to trick the cells into increasing production and activation of collagen. Think of collagen as the key to unlock the cells/ production line.

In order for the cells to be activated, they have to recognize the collagen supplement our body is consuming as the exact type the cells produce. If the cells don’t recognize that particular collagen, that collagen is literally sitting in the body doing absolutely NOTHING. Which means high gram amounts of collagen are irrelevant.

What matters is the TYPE of collagen it is and the PROCESS it went through in order for it to be recognized by the cells in your body to activate them to produce more collagen.

Most companies cannot make a direct claim about what their collagen does, but will give you a list a mile long of what the added ingredients will do, But the collagen I take can tell you what it will do for your cells.

Here are a few facts about the science behind my collagen:

• 5g hydrolyzed collagen. Bovine-sourced — because it is the closest in DNA structure to humans and it is the best to be able to activate the collagen production.

• 5g collagen peptides. Peptide sequence — the exact one your body needs:

This collagen contains astaxanthan (a red algae) which is a super charged antioxidant to help prevent further cell breakdown.Plus, this collagen is clinically proven to REDUCE CELLULITE, FINE LINES, AND SAGGING SKIN.

If you’re under the impression that liquid collagen is queen —here’s a secret, all liquid collagen starts as powder.

Relief for troubled skin

This morning, I was watching the news and saw a commercial for Dupixent for eczema and sin rash. Most of the people in the commercial were kids, aged 12 or younger. I understand when your kids are suffering, you ache for them to feel better — often medication like Dupixent is prescribed.

For myself, I found an alternative doe my eczema with a few simple changes to products tI use everyday with no new hit to my budget.

These two products — Melapower Detergent and Renew Lotio — from the online Wellness shopping club where I shop monthly have made a difference for me and I no longer use Dupixent. My eczema has been alleviated with this laundry detergent and this skin lotion. Neither contains formaldehyde, parabens, chlorine bleach or other chemicals..I do think it’s important to get chemicals out of your home. What we breathe and what we apply to our skin is important. I’ve personally seen the difference.

Being Frugal

Who else here is frugal?

I sure am! I cut open bottles to get every last drop.

This lotion took me a year to use up because I bought two—one for upstairs and one for downstairs. It’s great for eczema and rosacea, but I just love that it keeps my hands soft even after washing, and it kills germs with just one application.

Frankincense oil has a rich historical significance

In ancient Egypt, Frankincense was used in religious ceremonies, embalming practices, and as a perfume. The Greeks and Romans also highly valued Frankincense, using it in their religious rituals and as a key ingredient in cosmetics and perfumes. Additionally, Frankincense played a prominent role in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, where it was believed to promote overall well-being and balance the body’s energy. These cultural uses highlight the enduring reverence for Frankincense oil throughout history and its integral role in natural healing – and also why it’s so highly coveted today.

Here are some uses:

1. Arthritis & Pain Reliever

Frankincense oil contains potent anti-inflammatory compounds, such as the terpene boswellic acid, which can help reduce inflammation in the body. It has been traditionally used to alleviate symptoms of conditions like arthritis, joint pain, and inflammatory bowel diseases. Scientific studies have been conducted that show that frankincense led to reduced cartilage loss, less joint inflammation and relieved symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

2. Skin Health & Anti-Aging

Frankincense oil can help reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines, and is widely regarding amongst anti-aging circles for its ability to diminish wrinkles. Additionally, it has antiseptic qualities that can support healthy skin and may be used to address skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and dryness. Frankincense oil is also a powerful astringent, meaning it helps protect skin cells. It can be used to help reduce acne blemishes, mask the appearance of large pores, prevent wrinkles, and it even helps lift and tighten skin to naturally slow signs of aging.

3. Respiratory Support

Inhalation of frankincense oil vapor or using it in a diffuser can provide respiratory benefits. Frankincense oil has expectorant properties, which means it can help loosen and expel mucus and phlegm from the respiratory tract. This can ease congestion, relieve coughs, and promote clearer breathing. Its antimicrobial properties also help combat infections caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi.

4. Stress And Anxiety Relief

The calming and grounding properties of frankincense oil make it an effective natural remedy for reducing stress and anxiety. Its aroma promotes relaxation, deep breathing, and a sense of tranquility, making it a popular choice for aromatherapy and meditation practices. One study identified that frankincense oil showed to reduce stress and anxiety-related behavior in rats, showing promise of its effectiveness on humans.

5. Sleep Aid

Frankincense oil’s calming effects extend to improving sleep quality. It can help soothe the mind, promote relaxation, and create an environment conducive to restful sleep. Diffusing frankincense oil in the bedroom or applying it topically before bedtime may aid in achieving a more peaceful night’s sleep. Many people who battle insomnia have found Frankincense to be a useful tool to sleep longer and harder through the night.

SOME “SECRET” TIPS FOR YOUNGER LOOKING SKIN!

AM Routine

  1. Cleanse. I use a Vitamin C Cleanser because that vitamin C and Citric Acid help with age spots, discoloration and dull skin (something that happens as we age.
  2.  Tone. Toning is critical because all cleansers (even a bar of soap) changes your PH balance. Toners bring your skin back to its ph balance. I use one that I can spray on so it’s super easy and refreshing.
  3. Serum. Serums can do a variety of things: refine skin texture, reduce fine lines and boost moisture levels to plump aging skin. Personally I rotate a variety of serums to counteract the aging process.
  4. Moisturize. Don’t take this step for granted. Again, I rotate these but my favorite has prebiotics and probiotics to help to help fight free radicals that cause damage.
  5. Eye serum. The area around our eyes is very delicate. One of my favorite eye serums has Bakuchiol as one of the ingredients. Bakuchiol has been scientifically researched to significantly improve collagen production.
  6. Sunscreen. Sunscreen should be a SEPARATE STEP from skincare and kept out of your moisturizers and foundations. When manufacturers add sunscreen to those products, they have to remove certain ingredients that we NEED because these ingredients, when combined, cancel each other out.
  1. Cleanse. A foaming cleanser is a great product to use at night because the emollients will help to cut through the extra oil and makeup from the day!
  2. Tone. Toning is critical because all cleansers (even a bar of soap) changes your PH balance. Toners bring your skin back to its ph balance. I recommend using one that can be sprayed on so it’s super easy and refreshing.
  3. Serum. As stated before, serums can do refine skin texture, reduce fine lines and boost moisture levels to plump aging skin. It’s often a good idea to rotate a variety of serums to counteract the aging process.
  4. Moisturize. I can’t say enough about moisturizing your skin! It is fundamental. I recommend using a heavier moisturizer at night since the skin is at rest and can benefit from the extra attention.
  5. Eye cream. Since the skin around the eyes is probably the thinnest skin on the body. It’s often a good idea to use an eye serum followed by a heavier eye cream at night.
