How to Increase Protein in Your Diet

More and more research continually comes out suggesting that we should consume almost twice as much protein as we were told to do in the past. Today, many health experts recommend that we all shoot for 100 grams of protein each day. Doing so is crucial to help maintain and build muscle mass, but also it’s a great way to lose or maintain a healthy weight.
So how to we revise our day to make sure we can increase our protein intake?

Here are some tips:

  • Eat your protein first. Eating protein first a meal can prevent your blood sugar from rising too high after a meal.
  • Snack on cheese. Choose a lower fat one like mozzarella, parmesan, gouda or a low-fat stringed cheese.
  • Replace cereal with eggs or oatmeal. Both offer more protein than cereal.
  • Choose Greek Yogurt . Many Greek yogurts and top with almonds as a bonus.
  • Have a protein shake for breakfast, lunch or as a snack. A protein shake with milk can add 30 grams easily!
  • Add cottage cheese to your menu. One cup can contain as much as 23 grams of protein.
  • Munch on edamame. You can buy it frozen or get it in the salad bar at Whole Foods

Increasing your protein can be super simple. It just takes a little bit of planning!

Brain Cancer Facts

When cells in our brain grow out of control, they can form a solid mass. Because your brain has many types of cells, it can get many kinds of tumors. Some are cancer, and others aren’t. Some grow quickly, others slowly. But because the brain is our body’s control center, we have to take all of them seriously.
In adults, the most common tumors that start in the brain are meningiomas and gliomas.
Meningiomas make up more than 35% of all primary brain tumors. They don’t grow from brain tissue itself, but from cells in the brain’s covering. Their non-cancerous location and growth make them serious.
The most common cancerous brain tumors are glioblastomas, about one in five. They’re a type of glioma, tumors that start in your glial cells. They spread quickly and are often fatal.
There has been a noted increase in people being diagnosed with brain tumors. Technology makes them easier to see, but researchers are also looking into other possible causes, such as things in the environment, cell phones, etc.

BRAIN CANCER RISK FACTORS AND SYMPTOMS

RISK FACTORS

  • Radiation. Radiation directed at your head to treat another medical condition, like leukemia, can raise your risk for brain cancer.
  • Age. Adults over age 50
  • Other Health Issues. A weak immune system, organ transplant, or if brain tumors run in your family.

SYMPTOMS

Early diagnosis is critical. Symptoms depend on the kind of tumor you have and where it is, but you may:

  • Act in ways you normally wouldn’t
  • Feel sleepy throughout the day
  • Find it hard to express yourself, like you can’t find the right words or feel confused
  • Get bad headaches often, especially in the morning
  • Have problems seeing, like blurred or doubled vision
  • Lose your balance easily or have problems walking
  • Have seizures

It’s usually not clear what puts you at risk for a primary brain tumor — one that starts in your brain. But one known cause is radiation directed at your head to treat another medical condition, like leukemia. In most of these cases, the benefit of radiation outweighs the risk that it might cause cancer in the future.

It’s about Perspective

Your journey is not always going to be smooth. There will be times that you’ll be challenged. You will come across obstacles that perhaps are a little more of a struggle than a previous one. With each one take the time that you need to learn the lesson in order to grow and move forward. Sometimes it’s is a lot smaller than we perceive it to be. Don’t look so hard for the lesson take a step back and analyze what lies ahead of you. Take a look at it from a different perspective. You just might find the lesson to be learned is a lot simpler than what you realized.

This is all it takes…

Yes, this is all it takes for a load of laundry.
I know, it’s pretty impressive.
It’s a good thing because I have about a thousand more loads today after being gone for a two week road trip.

Did you know most liquid laundry detergents are full of water? Check your ingredients! Not only will you be unable to pronounce most of them but WATER is usually the first one! That’s just another reason I love this concentrate—I don’t have to pay for the water I already pay for! It’s super affordable for a container that can clean 96-loads, plus the compact size makes it easy to lift and carry. I ordered my detergent today and it will be here in two days! Amazon prime doesn’t hold a candle to this deal.

What makes it special for me is that it contains:
No Chlorine Bleach
No Formaldehyde or Carcinogens
No Phthalates
Biodegradable
No Harsh chemicals
No Fillers

It is so much safer for me, safer for my family and better for us all because it’s all made right here in the USA.

Beefy delivery!

We just received our beef box today. This month our box contains: is four ribeyes, two packagess of steak strips, two packages of beef hot dogs (something new!), four packages of ground beef and one package of diced steak.
This is the first time we’re trying the hot dogs. I Like the fact they have NO nitrates, or nitrites. All beef is grass fed, no hormones or antibiotics in any of it. Ever!

I’m happy I can buy my meats from a trusted source and still have it delivered to my door. Riverbend Ranch has some AMAZING beef that’s for sure!

It’s become my go to beef brand. Get ya some! Yummy

Why consider switching stores?

This one goes out to all the mamas, baby mamas, and grandmamas.

Did you know that it only takes 26 seconds for the cleaning CHEMICALS in your floor to enter your child’s bloodstream through their feet? WW! Let that sink in.

It may be time to consider switching stores— if not for you, for your little ones.

I am so glad I found plant-based cleaners for our home at The Wellness Store. Our heath improved and I’ve never looked back!

Do you call it a Snake Plant Or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue?

Growoing up, we always had one of these plants in our house. One had been in the family for generations. We called it the Snake Plant—it was great, it didn’t need much in the way of care, but it was a steady grower. Some people told us they called it the “Bedroom plant” as they kept it in the bedroom as an air purifier. Today, I have a large one in my living room and many larger ones out along my fence in the backyard, and they are spreading. Now I found out the “old wives tales” about purifying the air are true!

NASA has classified Sansevieria, now called Dracaena, as an air purifier due to its ability to remove toxic compounds such as benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene.

This plant uses the acid metabolism of the Crassulaceae to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide, enabling it to resist drought.

The microscopic pores on its leaves, called stomata, open only at night to limit water loss through transpiration in the heat of the sun. Unlike other plants, Sansevieria produces oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide at night, making it an excellent indoor air purifier while we sleep.

I may just move one into my bedroom now!
