Most laundry detergents have toxic ingredients such as 1,4 dioxane (causes cancer), SLS/SLES, parabens, phosphates, sulfates, synthetic dyes, optical brighteners, & more. Your laundry detergent gets absorbed into your body through your skin (your largest organ) so it’s important to avoid these ingredients.
Brands like All, Seventh Generation, Tide, Persil, Gain, Earthbreeze, Arm & Hammer, Charlie’s Soap, and Nellies contain some these ingredients and much more. When these brands were evaluated, the testers used twi criteria: (1) clean ingredients (we want to avoid dangerous chemicals) and (2) cleaning power (we don’t want to compromise on effectiveness) . My favorite laundry detergent is made from safe, natural, and plant-based ingredients. It is effective at cleaning and eliminating odors – and it doesn’t contain dangerous chemicals, optical brighteners, sulfates, phosphates, parabens, chlorine, or synthetic dyes (that works for me!)

Be aware and stay proactive now that tick season has arrived.
It’s warmer weather! Beginning time for camping, hiking and getting outside to play. Don’t let those pesky annoying ticks stop you.
Did you know ticks hate the smell of lemon, orange, cinnamon, lavender, peppermint, rose geranium, cedarwood, and thyme? They hate it so much that they avoid latching on to anything that smells of those items. Any of these, or a combination thereof, can be used in do-it-yourself sprays or added to an almond oil base and rubbed onto your skin.
Here’s one DIY recipe that has proven successful for my family:
• 1 oz any carrier oil such as Witch Hazel or Almond oil. • 7 drops Geranium. • 4 drops Peppermint. • 4 drops Thyme. • 4 drops Cedarwood or Lavender.
The above is safe for almost every one. Please note that I don’t recommend Eucalyptus Oil. if you have dogs or cats. Although eucalyptus oil is a tick killer, it is also effective repellent as well, and it’s naturally safe and effective on ones body when mixed with a carrier oil like Almond oil. Eucalyptus is toxic for dogs and cats. Always remember to use caution when using any essential oil around pets.
For you and your family
In a spray bottle, mix two cups of distilled white vinegar and one cup of water. To make a scented solution , add 20 drops of your favorite essential oil to the bottle so you do not smell like bitter vinegar all day,.
As we said before eucalyptus oil is a calm, soothing scent that also works as a tick repellent, while peppermint and citrus oils give off a strong crisp scent that also repel ticks. be careful using any mixture containing eucalyptus around your pets.
After mixing the solution, spray onto clothing, skin, and hair before going outdoors. Reapply every four hours to keep ticks at bay, and examine your skin and hair when back inside to make sure no ticks are on the body.
For your pets
If you have pets, a homemade spray solution of one cup of water to a spray bottle, followed by two cups of distilled white vinegar. Ticks hate the smell and taste of vinegar, and will be easily be repelled by this ingredient alone. Then, add two spoonfuls of vegetable or almond oil, which both contain sulfur (another natural tick repellent). Spray directly onto your pets, but be careful not to get it in their eyes. Or use the wonderful organic spray I get from my online shopping club. My dogs seem to love being sprayed with it before going out.
To make a repellent that will also deter fleas, mix in a few spoonfuls of lemon juice, citrus oil, or any other safe essence oil that may also repel ticks and fleas, while creating a nicely scented repellent but not be toxic for your dog. Spray onto the pet’s dry coat, staying away from sensitive areas including eyes, nose, mouth, and genitals. When outdoors for an extended period, spray this solution on two to three times per day.
This could be the most important thing that you see me post! These things are as lethal as a venomous snake in the wrong scenerio! Also note the nymph can spread the disease and it’s about the size of a poppy seed:. Here’s a link to learn more about transmission of disease caused by ticks. Please not only read it, but share it! Make sure we get the word out about these tics and the disease they carry!
If you have ever shared anything, please click share on this! We must get the word spread about the dangers of Ticks and how to avoid them!
The New York Times promotes this liquid dishwashing liquids as the “Best in 2023” Well, that isn’t necessarily true.
Advertisement for these and National brands bank on the idea that consumers are dumb by promoting “green” products like Mrs. Meyrs and Seventh Generation as safe but, in reality, these detergents contain formaldehyde to help preserve the products in warehouses for a few years before being transported to the retailer and then it’s stored in the retailers’ warehouses until it’s time to stock the shelves.
Did you know? All of these products in the photo, are to be used with caution—as they contain possible skin irritants. Chemical products such as ethanol, glycol ethers, formaldehyde, ammonia and others are often found in these cleaners. Mixing these products with bleach can produce toxic fumes. Repeated exposure can cause asthma-like symptoms and harm the central nervous system.Plus, they have been known to cause swelling and tearing of the eye tissue. The emitted vapors can cause coughing, wheezing, labored breathing, and in severe cases, death.

Did you know that rubbing SunShades Lip Balm on bug bites is instant relief? We were out yesterday and forgot insect repellent and this pesky Blackflies and mosquitos had a party on me! My friend suggested rubbing my Sunshades on the bites, she said it would work.
I didn’t believe it at first, but she was insistent that it worked, so I tried it and it is for real! From now on, every summer we have a few SunShades Lip Balms set aside for bug bites. For me it’s become a MUST HAVE!
By the way, it is also the BEST lip balm I have ever used and do not waste money on anything else. Hands down!
and that’s why they diagnose it ‘Dermatitis’, which is a general term for a common skin irritation. But eczema is really so much more than that. I’ve lived with some form of eczema my entire life and here are some ways to keep your skin irritations at bay:
1. Don’t scratch!—Scratching releases histamines and that just causes it to itch more.
2. Don’t use Hydrocortizone creams—Hydrocortizone creams thin out your skin and make you more prone to skin cancer. There are many side effects such as nausea, headache, and menstrual changes. NEVER apply to broken skin.
3. Know your laundry detergent_—”Scent free” or “Clear” laundry detergents are not the solution. Why? Removing scents and dyes may help, but the REAL problem is the caustic ingredients that are still in there. Caustic ingredients are the biggest offenders for those with eczema, but national brands will not remove them because that’s the old fashioned way for detergents to work: quick, fast and irritating to the skin. So look for ‘Non-Caustic, Non-Toxic’ laundry detergents. Your best ones will promote a “NO” list to these ingredients.
4. Evaluate everything that touches your body—It’s not just laundry detergent. It’s your hair care, skin care, lotions, etc. It you are buying store bought brands, your skin is exposed to formaldehyde, parabens, phthalates and synthetic dyes. Again, look for private brands that put in print they do not use these ingredients.
5. Get your gut health in order—Believe it or not, eczema starts in the gut, so look for a probiotic that offers at least 10 billion flora in each capsule and covers eight or nine strains.
6. Stay in front of it with the proper topical treatments—I’m passionate about this because I’ve helped so many people find the right solutions. Look for clinically proven products with published 3rd party clinical studies. Don’t be swayed by advertisements.
7. Don’t ignore it—One autoimmune disease can often be the gateway to more, so let me know if you need additional help with this! You and your loved ones should not suffer with eczema!
I went down this aisle looking for a dust bin. Yup – I went down the wrong aisle. But, in my defense I only go down the cleaning aisle maybe twice a year, if that much.
I couldn’t believe how quickly my head started throbbing, my nose started running and I started wheezing from all of these nasty chemical-based products.
It also amazes me how many people still use these big name brand products. Maybe it is the catchy songs on the commercials. Or, the awesome actors/actresses (who they pay big). But guys and gals – this stuff is poison for your body. It is toxic for you, your family and your fur babies.
Google “Lung Study”. (or just click here) It is a 20-year study showing that cleaning just once a week with the name brands causes as much damage to your lungs as smoking a pack of cigarettes a DAY!
That is just plain crazy.

I would love to show you how to shop for better, safer products that are made in the USA. Oh, let’s not forget you will save money and they are delivered to your .
