The dangers of household bleach

If your household is one of the plethora of homes that use chlorine bleach as a disinfectant and cleaning agent, you may want to read this article and rethink your choices. Chlorine bleach is downright dangerous, especially to children.

The creation of chlorine bleach is actually caused by an electric shock and simply reading the disclosures on the bottle is shocking, too. Any products (including the bleach itself) that contain bleach can produce toxic effects. Ammonia mixes with bleach to create a “deadly” gas. In your toilet bowl bleach can mix with urine and have the same effect (remember urine contains ammonia). In the confinement of your toilet those fumes can concentrate and cause you, and your family, harm.

I can give you access to an entire suite of cleaning and disinfecting products that are chlorine bleach free and actually do a better job than what you are currently using among them is even a toilet bowl cleaner that will leave the bowl clean and fresh and remove the risk. The next time you reach for that chlorine bleach bottle, reach for the phone instead and ask me how you can obtain these safer (and affordable) alternatives.

This Summer prevent skin cancer

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is the main cause of skin cancer, although tanning booths or sunlamps also emit UV radiation. Melanoma is the most dangerous kind of skin cancer.

The good news? Skin cancer can almost always be cured when it’s found and treated early. Communities, health professionals, and families can work together to prevent skin cancer or detect it early on.

Here are just a few ideas to prevent or detect skin cancer:

  • Stay out of the sun as much as possible between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. Put on sunscreen every 2 hours and after you swim or sweat.
  • Cover up with long sleeves and a hat.
  • Check your skin regularly for changes.

New Research Discovers That Depression Is An Allergic Reaction To Inflammation

New research is revealing that many cases of depression are caused by an allergic reaction to inflammation. It appears that people suffering from depression are loaded with cytokines, a class of proteins that facilitate intercellular communication. Inflammation is caused by obesity, high sugar diets, high quantities of trans fats, unhealthy diets in general, and other causes.

By treating the inflammatory symptoms of depression — rather than the neurological ones — researchers and doctors are opening up an exciting new dimension in the fight against what has become a global epidemic.   This  article in FeelGuide  explains the inflammation theory.

In the meantime, it may be a good idea to keep taking those nutritional supplements an antioxidants.  I have had tremendous results using products from a 30 year old company that develops and manufactures the most effective supplements available to consumers without prescription.

What Is Good Coaching In Business?

In the last decade or so, you have often heard the word coaching used when referring to management interaction. Why does the word coaching come up more and more?

It is a term that was adopted by the popularity of sports and the management of men and women on the court, the field and the rink. Our “adaptation” of coaching is derived directly from those experiences in person and in observation.

The attached article can help you understand more clearly the value of good coaching and what it can bring to your “team’s” success. As the author, Yael Bacharach, tells us: “if you listen, reflect, question and provide the right feedback, you can easily build trust in the coaching relationship.”

Probiotics & Digestion

Gastrointestinal problems are more and more common in today’s stress-filled world.  This article from Naturally Savvy points out some of the symptoms like belching, diarrhea, constipation, and nausea among others.

Poor digestion symptoms like these indicate an imbalance in your intestinal microflora that can lead to more serious disease. There are foods you can eat that can help replenish these “good” bacteria, as this article explains, but in most cases where this is a serious problem, supplementation with a strong probiotic can be indicated.

If you think probiotics are just for your digestive health, you are mistaken. The health benefits of good bacteria are endless. Protection (and even reversal) of autoimmune disease, mental health (depression) are caused in the enteric nervous system, which regulates autonomic functions.

No yogurt is not enough. As you read on you will be amazed at the number of infirmities that are caused by bacterial imbalances in your gut, including cancer, skin health, cholesterol and osteoporosis.

If you are really concerned with a genuinely healthy body and mind, you should consider a probiotic regime. It is surprisingly easy and affordable.

What Does The Top Of Your Desk Say About The Quality Of Your Work?

We have all been there. We sit down and realize the condition and organization of the top of our desk leaves something to be desired. Don’t be too tough on yourself it happens to all of us, at least from time to time.

The top of your desk DOES say something about you. Neatness can mean you are goal oriented or driven to succeed. While a messy or disorganized desk can indicate a creative thinker that can find untraditional ways to get things accomplished.

I am fortunate that the company that I represent has leaders that coach feverishly and diligently to the point where they have created a web-based system of organization that is customized for the organization of my business. The result? I am able to keep a routine, which gives me a sense of security unmatched to any other career in which I have been involved. It allows me to duplicate and that repetition makes me better at my job and at leading my people.

Excessive Snacking And Health

Snacking is a favorite pastime of us all. Are we really that hungry? This article from Psychology Today suggests that perhaps it’s not your tummy; maybe it’s your brain. Excessive snacking can indicate some underlying issues.

Stress and anxiety can trigger the same reactions as real hunger. It can undermine your diet regime, obviously, but it could also be a result of underlying issues in the insula and the basal ganglia that cause us to react in a food-rich environment.

Dr. Korb, the author tells us some details of the causes and some suggestions for your battle with the refrigerator and the cupboard. The company I am partnered with has some “good for you” alternatives that include snack bars, crackers, and shakes that satisfy the cravings in your stomach AND in your brain. And they are Gold Standard tasty.

The Mediterranean Diet

An unhealthy heart, cancer-causing inflammation, and even depression can be avoided by acclimating to a Mediterranean diet. It incorporates the basics of healthy eating plus a splash of flavorful olive oil and, if you choose, a glass of red wine, among other components characterizing the traditional cooking style of the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

Most healthy diets include fruits, vegetables, fish and whole grains and limit unhealthy fats like butter and margarine. The subtle variations of portion size make a big difference whether your goal is to lose weight or simply get and stay healthy.

The Mediterranean diet emphasizes:

    • Eating primarily plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts.

   • Replacing butter (and margarine) with healthy fats like olive and canola oil.

   • Using herbs and spices instead of salt.

  • Limiting red meat to no more than five times a month.

   • Eating fish and poultry at least twice a week.

   • Enjoying meals with family and friends.

   • Getting plenty of exercise.

The residents of Greece, for example, eat very little red meat and average nine servings A DAY of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables. Grains in the Mediterranean contain very few unhealthy trans fats and bread is an important part of the diet there. Throughout the Mediterranean region, bread is eaten plain or dipped in olive oil, not butter or margarine, which contain saturated fats.

Another part of the healthy Mediterranean diet is nuts, which are high in fat, but most of the fat is not saturated. Obviously, you should avoid candied, honey roasted or heavily salted nuts. I am associated with a wellness company that offers nearly 500 products many of which are whole grain, gluten, sugar and saturated fat-free. I have benefited greatly from all of these choices while avoiding hunger and cravings and staying healthy and weight responsible.

I have included some great (and very tasty) recipes for Mediterranean dishes to get you get you started and give you some direction. I know you will enjoy them.

Essential Oils Sales Increases

The essential oils market is expected to grow to nearly 12 billion dollars by 2022. That is EXPLOSIVE growth. The uses for essential oils are virtually limitless. Companies are discovering new ones everyday.

These oils can help you sleep, relieve headache pain, relax stress and much, much more. These oils are steeped in history and go back centuries. These key findings will give you an overview of this incredible growth and some details about their use.

Needless to say, the processing of these oils is complicated which explains their relatively high price. The methodology of concentration of these oils makes a difference in the quality of the final product. When searching for the right brand to utilize for me and my family I was fortunate to find a company that provides these “mysteries” of nature at prices that are extremely competitive for oils (Let’s be honest, cost is a factor!).  The best part about their line was the certification of purity.  It amazes me how much marketing has lead me to believe things that simply are not true from other brands.
